Thanks for posting that. The song title is in Taiwanese, Hokklo, and it means "Grandma can't sleep". The chotto matte refrain represents the popularity of spoken Japanese in Taiwan, and almost everyone islandwide knows the phrase CHOTTO MATTE, one hears it every day, from young kids to adults. The Taiwanese words in the song are popular sayings, such as "Kill two birds with one stone" or "It's so delicious I could die" and interesting phrases like that. The author of the song is not a speaker of Taiwanese, but his ears ring every day with the sound of Taiwanese in the small city in southern Taiwan where he lives, and the song "just came to me" over a period of several months last summer, a few phrases at a time, until he "just put it all together, with the help of many local friends, and voila, a new Taiwanese novelty song!"

One of the local Chinese-language newspapers in Taiwan is preparing a report about the song and it will appear in print and online soon.
